Mechanical Analysis

In product development there is currently a strong focus on virtual processes, i. e. development without physical prototypes and costly full-scale experiments. Today simulation is driving the development and is not only used to validate the performance when the design is finished. To be able to derive optimal designs, both from design, structural performance and cost perspectives, one needs to understand and be able to analyze the physical behavior in detail. In practice this requires the use of numerical simulations.

In the area of mechanical analysis, Qamcom is focusing on structural simulations, primarily using finite element analyses. Our cutting-edge expertise is currently related to automotive and railway applications, with general competences applicable to many other areas.

Qamcom supplies highly skilled and experienced resources to help our customers understand, plan and perform advanced modeling and simulations. We have many years of experience from modern virtual product development in industry with core analyses in:

  • Stress & strength analyses
  • Structural dynamics
  • Crashworthiness
  • Low- and high-speed impact
  • Fatigue analysis
  • Fracture mechanics
  • Contact mechanics
  • Stability
  • Statics
  • Weight Optimization

We adopt the latest and best tools available for the task at hand. This includes implicit and explicit solver solutions such as MSC Nastran, ABAQUS and LS-DYNA.
We have also long experience in industry-related research that implies extraction of industrially relevant results, as well as development of engineering criteria to be employed in operational design. In cooperation with our customers, dissemination of R&D has been carried out through authoring of reports, scientific papers and state-of-the-art studies. Qamcom has a representative in the National Committee for Mechanics of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
